Alma Leona Hicks Obituary Funeral services for Alma Leona Nicks, age 96, of Barnsdall, Oklahoma were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Barry Gott officiating. Alma passed away on August 21, 2012, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. She was born on June 20, 1916 in Pocasset, Oklahoma to Wilce Alecander and Ollie Mae (Wilson) Spence. She married Gilbert Hicks; he preceded her in death on August 9, 1984. During her life Alma worked as a fruit picker, caregiver and a housekeeper. Alma is survived by her son James Myers of Locust Grove; five grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; four sisters: Hazel Garrett, Durlene Barkley, Jerline Imps and Shirley Dierks. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gilbert, a brother Spence, two sisters Esther Anthony and Wilma King. Interment in the A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma was under the direction of Powell Funeral Home.
