Andrea Lynn Jake was born on June 13, 1978, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Betty (Harjo) Jake and Jonathon “Johnnie” Hiram Jake. She passed away on July 27, 2022, at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was 44 years of age. Andrea attended Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah and Hominy high school. She received her CNA license and CMA license from Central Technology Center in Drumright, OK. Andrea also studied at Pawnee Nation College in Pawnee. Andrea used her education to care for the elderly and enjoyed working for numerous nursing homes in the community, most recently at Cleveland, OK.
This year Andrea was asked to be a cook for the Zon Zo Zi District and was excited about the opportunity to cook for her Wah Zha Zhe people. Andrea enjoyed dancing most of her life and loved hitting the Pow-wow highway throughout the years. Andrea’s osage name is Ku-thah-doh-we “Eagle descendent” and was named by her grandmother Hazel Lohah Harper. She was proud to be Pawnee, Osage and Creek; and loved cheering for the Hominy Bucks and always showed her “Buck Pride”. Andrea never hesitated to encourage others and cheer them on for their accomplishments. She was a believer in Christ and grew up in the Native American and Friend’s Church.
Andrea was preceded in death by her grandparents – Jesse and Darcille Harjo, John Wayne and Rosa Jake; her father Johnnie Jake; two nephews Byron Thunder Whitecrow and Simon Wayne Jake. She is survived by her mother Betty and sisters Elizabeth Ischomer, Angela Brown, Amanda Jake, Jessica Jake and Amelia Jake. Also surviving are nephews Isaac, Derrick and Johnnie, as well as nieces Allison, Aryana, Nikah and numerous other close relatives and friends.
Indian services will be held at 8:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 in the Hominy Indian Village Chapel with Eddie Red Eagle officiating. Church services will follow at 10:00 AM in the Friends Church with David Nagle officiating. Burial will be in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, OK.
