Benny V. McCarty Benny V. McCarty, 80, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at his home. He lived for 38 years in the Wildhorse area. Benny was born March 9, 1934 in Mesquite, New Mexico to Virgil and Bessie (Brown) McCarty. He married Sue Brooms on April 9, 1975 and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Skiatook. He retired as a crew leader for John Zink after working for them for 30 years. He is survived by: his wife, Sue; 2 daughters, Cindy Hoppner of Grand Prairie, TX and Charlie Cox of Wildhorse, OK; 1 son, Bill Cox of Florida; 8 Granddaughters, Brooke, Shelby, Ashley, Heather, Kaula, Jessica, Lacie and Erica; 4 Great-Grandchildren, Chloe, Jaylee, Braxton and Emma; and 2 sisters, Maybelle Walsmith of Mesa, AZ and Vernell Rogers of La Cruces, NM. Benny is preceded in death by: his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, a daughter and 2 sons. Funeral services will be at the Pavilion at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Garry McDevitt officiating. Pallbearers will be: Brent Prather, Horace Paslay, Travis Asher, Bo Chanley, Robert Sutton and Tracy Carpenter. Honorary pallbearer is Sonny Carpenter. Burial will follow at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home in Hominy, Oklahoma. Online memorials may be left at powellfuneralservice.com.
