Betty Brown

Betty Mae (Cannon) Brown was born December 6, 1957, to Buster Pete Cannon and Jimmie Lee (Shephard) Cannon in Hominy city hospital. She joined one sister, Mary Janet at home.

She went to Prue schools first through twelfth grade. Betty worked at Hominy hospital for a number of years and also worked in the office of Doctor Liou's in Cleveland. Betty started working at Dick Conner Correctional Center and worked there for thirty years until she retired. She was assistant to the Chief of Security.

In 2004, Betty was married to Benjamin Brown in Miami Oklahoma. Betty and Ben made their home in Hominy where Ben worked as a welder.

Betty loved her family so much and her many friends she leaves behind. She loved doing for others and she did not know a stranger.

Betty is survived by husband Ben Brown; two sons Charlie (Candi) Brown and Benji (Crystal) Brown; seven grandchildren Paige Brown, Isabelle Brown, Brooklynn Brown, T J Long, Cammi (Josh) Ordiales, Autumn (Curtis) Hyatt, and Tyler (Jacy) Brown; four great grandchildren Summer Hyatt, Carson Hyatt, Tucker Brown and Jovi Brown; sister Mary Janet (Butch) Hamilton; sister in law Darlene (Robert) Woolery; niece Della Hamilton; great nieces and nephews Cody, Elissa, Mave, Carter, Cecelia Janet (CJ), Jeremiah, Chelsey, Caine, and Tatum and her dog Buddy. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Jimmie Cannon, and great niece Ella Mae.

Betty Brown’s funeral will be Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Nazarene in Hominy, Oklahoma, followed by burial at A J Powell Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements made by Powell Funeral Home.
