Bob Plummer

Robert (Bob) Plummer passed May 2, 2014 at St. Johns Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma having reached the age of 65 years, 11 months, and 1 day. He was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma, May31, 1948. His family resided near Blackburn, Oklahoma, but moved to Wichita, Kansas when he was quite young. At the age of twelve his family returned to the Blackburn area. He attended Enterprise School and after graduating Eighth grade attended Hominy Schools where he graduated from High School. Football was his favorite sport and he was Hominy Oklahoma All-State Tackle in 1965. He received a football scholarship to Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. There he met and married Sarah Cox in 1967. In 1968 he transferred to Oklahoma State University. He worked his way through college pipelining through the summers to put himself through college. He graduated from OSU with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

After college he worked various jobs: housing contractor in Chickasha Oklahoma, manager of a ranch in McAllister Oklahoma, the Alaska pipeline, then purchasing his own ranch near Blackburn Oklahoma while working on the pipeline, after his wifes death in 1978, he remarried Layna Fieser Ast and continued ranching while working several years for Valmont Industries and later Dick Conner Correctional Facilities. Shortly before leaving Dick Conner Correctional Facilities he purchased a small oil lease which he was operating along with his ranch operation.

He is survived by, his wife, Layna Plummer, his father John Plummer, his brother Mike Plummer and wife, Donna; Children, Leah and her husband, Chris Stout, and their three children, Ashlyn, Ryan, and Cambry; Danyele Bellizia and Lee Darrah, and children, Drew and Emily; Lacy and her husband, Gene Tucker, and their daughter, Kylee; Lance and his wife, Megan Plummer, and daughter, Cassie; Step daughter, Marlayna and her husband, Dustin Vieselmeyer, and their four boys, Jacob Cox, Tate, Tell, and Ty Vieselmeyer.

Besides his first wife, Sarah, he was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Hager Plummer; brother, Gregory Kent Plummer; and daughter, Robyn Beth Plummer Nelson.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Cleveland Church of Christ, Cleveland, Oklahoma with Doug Dingley officiating. Interment will be at Blackburn Cemetery, Blackburn, Oklahoma.
