Bobby Joe Sewell of Blackburn, Oklahoma passed from this life on 17 October 2013 in Tulsa at the age of 74 after an unexpected illness. Bob was born 23 September 1939 to Joseph Franklin Sewell and Janie Bernice Claxton Sewell in Cushing, Oklahoma. He graduated with the class of 1958 from Stillwater High School. He married Linda Louise Metcalf on 27 March 1965. He attended OSU and then worked for North American Rockwell and Nordam, where he was a contributing engineer for Apollo 11, Air Force One, and Huey Helicopter. He finished his life working at Whitten Company as a Quality Control Engineer. Bob was hardworking, honest, and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He grew up working on the Cross L Ranch in the Oklahoma Panhandle. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and rodeos. He would say, “hauling these girls to rodeos is cheaper than therapy.” He also loved his grandchildren very much. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda, of the home; and his three daughters, Katherine “Kate” Robinson and husband Ronnie; Robie Brinlee and husband Randy; and Bobbie Jo Sewell. He had a major hand in raising his grandsons, Justin Sewell (wife Elizabeth) and Cody Sewell, both of Houston, Texas, and Aaron Sewell of the home. Bob’s many other grandchildren are: Tyler Sewell (wife Jessica), Jenna Alexander (husband Dustin); Scout Sewell; Rendy, Tallie and Ronnie Brinlee; Jennifer Christian (husband Troy); Jackie Frank (wife Diedra); Ronnie Robinson, Jr. (wife Kayla); Austin Robinson; Brandon and Parris Robinson; Jeff Nance (wife Melissa); and Liam Hoesktra; great-grandchildren: Rhett Sewell, Wyatt and Sage Christian, Jo, Jackson, Jillian and Jake Frank; Laramie and Lettie Lynn Robinson, Marissa Bryant, Jayden Thomas, Will Nance and Asher Robinson. He is also survived by brother Kenneth Sewell (wife Kathy) and many others who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary. No memorial service is planned at this time. His ashes will be spread in Kenton, Oklahoma, where his aunt and uncle Glen and Mary Sewell are buried.
