Bruce Maker, 78 years, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bruce was born in Hominy on December 20, 1937 to Leo Maker and Opal Bruce. He attended Hominy High School and later attended Oklahoma State University. Bruce was married to Wanda Lue Evans on November 21, 1967 in Camdenton, Missouri. They have been married 48 years. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and then owned and operated 5M Outfitters in Chama, New Mexico for 15 years. Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman, especially coon hunting. He was a lifelong rancher, a storyteller, a prankster, and most of all, he loved being Papa Bruce.
Bruce is survived by: his wife, Wanda; 4 sons: Chuck Maker and his wife, Angie of Dallas, TX; David Tony Maker of Hominy, OK; Chris Maker and his wife, Rebecca of Hominy, OK; Joseph Maker and his wife, Paula of Hominy, OK; 1 daughter, Farrah Boyd and her husband, Dustin of Hominy, OK; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and his dearest cousins: Nancy LaZelle and Jesse May, as well as other cousins and other family members
Bruce is preceded in death by: his parents; his grandparents: Elmer Ross and Nona (Hart) Maker and John and Alice Bruce and his great-grandchild, Paxton Owens.
Traditional Osage services and the funeral service were held at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Hominy Indian Village Chapel with the Pastor Wayne Brown and John Maker officiating. Pallbearers were: Chuck Maker, David Tony Maker, Chris Maker, Joseph Maker, Farrah Boyd, Marion Graham, Jerry Ballard and Dewey Burwell. Honorary Pallbearers were: Lonnie Ware, Bob Cox, Dalton Maker, Jacob Maker, Dakota Doyle, Chance Doyle, Justin Maker, Conner Boyd, Dustin Boyd, Daniel Maker, Zach Maker and Corey Maker. Burial followed the services at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
