Donna M. Barrone was born October 6, 1960. She returned to the stars on December 22, 2024. Donna was from Fairfax and is of the 𐓬𐓘𐓮𐓶𐓪𐓧𐓣 District and 𐓲𐓟𐓻𐓪 𐓷𐓘𐓯𐓰𐓘𐓤𐓟 (Tsi Zho Washdake) Clan. Her 𐓷𐓘𐓻𐓘𐓻𐓟 𐓻𐓘𐓻𐓟 (WahZhazhe zhazhe) is 𐓨𐓘𐓮𐓣 𐓲𐓟𐓸𐓟 (Masu Tseki) and was given to her by Uncle Harry Redeagle Jr. She is Osage, Pawnee, Sioux and Absentee Shawnee. She is a direct descendent of Simon Henderson, who was a well known road man for the Native American Church.She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1978. Donna studied the Osage language for over two decades, learning first under the teaching of Uncle Harry Redeagle Jr. and Uncle Kenny Bighorse Sr. at the Whitehair Memorial. She worked with the Osage Nation Language Department for around 16 years, helping teach children, staff and beginners. She brought language in 𐓰𐓘𐓬𐓪𐓮𐓤𐓘 𐓣𐓤𐓪𐓰𐓘𐓬𐓣 (Daposka Ekodape) (The Immersion School) and Osage Nation Headstart, as well as taking the language into the public school systems at Woodland Elementary School and Junior High. Donna was a member of the Pahsuelee club for 46 years holding various elected positions during her time with them. She was also a Grayhorse District Committee Cook for over 20 years serving at least 4 Drum keepers.
She is preceded in death by both parents, her father Charles "Bitsy" and her mother Joan Graves Barrone, her siblings Charles Anthony and Sharon Kay Barrone all of Fairfax, OK. She also leaves behind her Aunt Judy Graves Tiger, her sister, Brenda Barrone Hardin of Oklahoma City and nephew, Taos Barrone of Pawhuska, OK. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
Services will be at the Grayhorse Chapel on December 28, 2024 starting at 9 A.M. Interment will be at the Fairfax cemetery followed by the traditional dinner at the Grayhorse community building.
