Imojean Ward-Neff was born July 1, 1931 in Maumee Arkansas to Homer and Mae Davenport. She grew up with two brothers and two sisters. Imojean grew up in the Yellville Arkansas area where she graduated from High School in the later 1940’s. She lived on a farm and was very active in the farm life, if she wasn’t gardening or milking, she was doing some other chores around the place. Her sister Alma moved to the Tulsa area and Imojean followed her. She worked at a soda fountain. Willie Earl Ward was her boss. Willie was very persistent in chasing after Imojean. It wasn’t long till they got married and enjoyed 46 years of marriage.
Imojean and Willie gave birth to four girls; Anna Earlene, Paula Jean, Shirley Lynn and Josie Mae (who passed away as an infant). Imojean stayed busy raising her girls and working in restaurants. During her career she owned two different restaurants. She wasn’t a big touchy person, but you still knew she loved you. She was strict and seemed to be the disciplinarian in the home.
After Willie passed away, Imojean married James Neff in 2002 and were married for fifteen years till he passed. The were very active in their church, Sheridan Christian Church.
Imojean loved to cook, and there was always plenty of food at her house. Her chicken and noodles were incredible. She was very organized, loved to care for others, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Being in the garden was a pleasure for her. Thanksgiving and Christmas were always big holidays at Imojean’s house, what a meal she would prepare for everyone. She loved her grands and great grands. Imojean always wanted to go to Hawaii but never made it there.
