George Elmer Burton was born on August 18, 1942, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to George Robert and Katie Mertyl (Overholser) Burton. George grew up with seven siblings. George was very intelligent, and it showed in his schoolwork.

He also enjoyed talking about politics, he was very vocal concerning issues in our country.

More than anything else, George loved his family. He wanted to spend time together as often as possible. When the family would get together, they would eat and then play games. He was thrilled to teach new games to the younger generations. It was important to be together as much as possible; from big family gatherings to just a few at a time, George looked forward to these moments. His best friend was Marcine Baze, they were together all the time.
