Helen Frances Besly was born on November 16, 1920 in Jennings Oklahoma to Charles Besly and Maude A. Whisenhunt Besly. She passed from this life on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Fort Worth Texas having reached the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 28 days. She attended Pawnee Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1938. She followed in her father’s footsteps, Judge Charles Besly, and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree at Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State University, and obtained her law degree from Oklahoma University in Norman. She spent several years with Sinclair Oil Corporation before she started her own law firm in Tulsa, and has previously served as President of the Tulsa Bar Association. She was active in the Order of the Amaranth, serving as Royal Matron from 1974-1975, Royal Patron from 1989-1990, and Grand Royal Matron from 1989-1990; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem receiving her fifty year pin in August, 2006, where she served as Worthy High Priestess on four different occasions; and the Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her fifty year pin in 1996, and served as Worthy Matron three times. Helen was also active in the First Christian Church. Helen is survived by: 2 Brothers:Morris Besly, Hurst, Texas Warren Besly & his wife, Ruby, Amarillo, Texas Plus a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Charles Besly and Maude Besly. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Poteet Funeral Chapel, Pawnee Oklahoma with Rev. Don Brown officiating. Interment will be beside her parents in Highland Cemetery, Pawnee Oklahoma under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee Oklahoma.
