Herman Anthony DeRoin was born on April 24, 1972, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Herman Modesta DeRoin and Claudia (Rowland) DeRoin. He grew up in the Hominy area with his two sisters and one brother. Herman attended Hominy Schools, where he was in the band. He loved playing his trumpet. Herman graduated from Hominy High in 1990. For college he started at OSU but then transferred to Haskell College in Kansas where he received an associate degree.
Herman greatest achievements in life where his two children; Haven Anthony and Gracelynn Faith. He was so proud of them and loved them with all his heart. Herman was always up to something, he just liked having fun, but it was good clean fun (at least for the most part).
Herman was very passionate about being Osage and participating in tribal activities. He was also passionate about the sweat lodge. He enjoyed being involved in advocating for drug/alcohol counseling.
He loved death metal music. Herman lived life to the fullest. He was very charismatic and loved to encourage other people.
Herman passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in his home. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Herman is survived by his two wonderful children, Haven Anthony and Gracelynn Faith; his mother Claudia DeRoin; his sister Maria DeRoin and his brother Joel DeRoin; six nieces and nephews Anthony, Paul, Josh, Alyssa, Denver, and Joseph; one great nephew Jeremiah Johnson. He is preceded in death by his father Herman DeRoin; his sister Stacey Bruton; his grandma Viola.
Herman DeRoin Services will be Thursday, November 30, 2023. 8:00 am a traditional Osage Service at the Hominy Indian Community Building. 10:00 am a Catholic Funeral Service at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hominy. Followed by burial at A J Powell Memorial Cemetery. A traditional Osage Meal will be served after burial at the Hominy Indian Community Building. Arrangement have been made by Powell Funeral Home in Hominy, Oklahoma
