Ivene (Lay) Henley Obituary Ivene (Lay) Henley, age 89 of Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her residence. Ivene was born May 22, 1923 in Searcy County, Arkansas to Jack and Viola (Keeling) Lay. She was long time resident of Montana, Arkansas and Pawhuska area for 26 years. Ivene married Floyd William Henley February 17, 1943 in St. Joe, Arkansas, and were married for 69 wonderful years, before Floyd preceded her in death December 9, 2012. Ivene was a mother and homemaker; she was an Eastern Star Member, an Ombudsman, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wynona, Oklahoma. She taught Sunday School, wrote articles for newspapers and compiled a cookbook which was packed with great recipes of family favorites. Ivene is survived by: her daughter Floydean Henley of the home; two sons: Keith Henley and wife Candace of Chandler, Oklahoma, and David Henley and wife Jean of Silverdale, Washington. Five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; two sisters: Jackie Henley and Jenny Yarbrough, and brother Bill Lay. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters. Funeral Services were Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Prue, Oklahoma with Bill Lay and Keith Henley officiating. Candace Henley was the pianist and vocalist singing special music and "Morning Has Broken". Pall Bearers were David G. Henley, David K. Henley, Charles Henley, Orville Henley, Phillip Rogers and Jack Henley; Honorary Pall Bearer Quentin Rogers. Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery at Prue, Oklahoma with the family using the Powell Funeral Home, Hominy with the arrangements. www.powellfuneralservice.com.
