Jack Ray Cross was born February 27, 1939, to Clyde and Velma Cross in Hominy, Oklahoma. Jack grew up on a small farm in the Hominy area with his five brothers and two sisters. He attended Hominy Schools, where he graduated in 1958. After school he served in the United States Army from September 1958 through 1961. Jack was stationed in Germany for two years. When he came back to the states he spent time in Louisiana as a drill Sargent.
Jack returned to Hominy and fell in love with Linda Keyes. They were married on December 23, 1961, in Hominy, Oklahoma. Jack and Linda brought two wonderful girls into this world, Paula and Regina. This happy family has been a staple in the city of Hominy for many years.
Jack worked for Claude’s Food Store before he went into the Army and returned to that job when he returned. Jack spent 45 years at Claude’s. He started as a stock boy, then worked his way up to produce manager, then in 1975 he became the assistant store manager. He spent 45 years working for Claude’s and retired in 2000.
Jack enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was part of a bowling league. Jack also was very active in the American Legion 142 in Hominy, Oklahoma. Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma.
Jack passed from this life on Monday, October 21, 2024, at his home with his family around him.
Jack Cross survived by his two daughters Paula (Byron) Staples and Regina (Keith) Hutchinson; four grandchildren Russell (Molly) Staples, Renae (Jimmie) Bruner, Jason Duncan, and Tiffany (Lee) DeShazer; three brothers Bobby Cross, Terry (Mary Jean) Cross, and Kenneth Cross; one sister Wanetta (Paul) Ruynon; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Linda Cross; his parents Clyde and Velma Cross; two brothers Sonny Man Cross and Sammy Cross; one sister Deborah LeForce.
Funeral service for Jack Cross will be Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma. Burial to follow at A J Powell Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements made by Powell Funeral Home in Hominy, Oklahoma. In Lieu of flowers please donate to United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 142 in Hominy, Oklahoma
