Obituary for Jack Don La Belle Jack Don La Belle, 81 long time resident of Wynona, passed away July 8, 2009 at his home. He was born March 3, 1928 in Osage County, Oklahoma to Gilbert and Lula (Casey) La Belle. Jack worked as a drug and alcohol counselor. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Wynona and the American Legion in Pawhuska. Jack attended Pawnee Indian School in Pawnee Ok. Haskell Institute and graduated in 1945 as Valedictorian of his class. He joined the army right out of school and served in the army aircorp in the European theater. After completing two tours of duty, he attended Layton Cameron College and graduated valedictorian. Jack enjoyed boxing and football. Jack is survived by two sons Lance La Belle of Cedar Edge, Colorado and Bruce La Belle of California. 10 Grandchildren; Shay La Belle, Shelby Harmon, Chelsea La Belle, Roy Callahan, Jesselynn & Nolan La Belle, Steven Jr. And Derek La Belle, Christopher Vonallman, and Serena Atkins; 9 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Son Steve, Grandson Lance La Belle and his wife Mary Ann. Graveside services were Monday, July 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the A.J. Powell Cemetery. Rev. David Downing officiated the service and the American Legion Post 198 performed the military service. Musical selections were Amazing Grace sung by Lakinda Houston. Pallbears were; Kenny Perry Jr., Rusty Cheshewalla, Hollis Stabler, John Williams Sr., John Williams Jr., Marvin Stepson, All members of the American Legion Post # 198 Pawhuska, which also conducted the military services. Powell Funeral Home in Hominy was entrusted with the services.
