James Edward "Stormy" Horton Obituary James Edward Horton, "Jimmie" or "Stormy" to most of us, was born August 4, 1946 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Nemi and Ruby Horton. He passed from this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age of 66 years. At a very young age Stormy joined the United States Army in September of 1963. He was stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana, and also spend time in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was there until he was transferred to Fort Wainwright, Alaska in 1965. He experienced many things while stationed in Alaska even did some dog sledding. Later back in Fort Benning, Georgia while with the Civil Service, his duties were fitting and distributing uniforms to those heading to Vietnam. He was discharged from the Army in August of 1969, serving nearly seven years. Stormy was talented in the paint and body field. He loved repairing and painting Vehicles. At one time in his life he had his own paint and body shop. He also was a fireman for the Hominy Fire Department; in fact during his seven years there he painted a few of the department's fire truck, including the old 1948 Mack! Stormy also worked for Bobs Auto Repair in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was a heavy equipment operator for both Lakeland Pipeline and Falcon Field Service in Hominy, Oklahoma, and also was employed by Reed Engine and Pump Repair. He was survived by children: Deborah Sue of Georgia, James Edward, Jr., of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Joshia James of Cleveland, Oklahoma; also Dana and Brad Standridge of Hominy, Oklahoma. Stormy also had eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Sisters were: Shirley Graham, Wilma Stephens and husband Kenny, Pam Hambright and husband Joe, all of Hominy, Oklahoma. One brother: Jack Horton and Sheryl Adams of Cleveland Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death is one sister, Marybelle, his parents Nemi and Ruby; two brothers, Danny and Dale Horton; also one daughter Michelle Lea, one son Jeffrey Dean and many other loved ones. Graveside Services were held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Hambright officiating. Burial was in the Prairie View Cemetery, in Prue, Oklahoma under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma. You can visit our website at www.powellfuneralservice.com.
