James Wallace Gross Sr., 79 years, of Hominy, Oklahoma passed from this life on February 13, 2021 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
James Wallace Gross was born on November 2, 1941 to Hurley Gross and Cora Speers. He attended Haskell Institute and Trade School in Lawrence, KS until he graduated in 1959. During the 60s and well into the 70s, he worked as a painter until he moved back to Oklahoma in 1983. There he lived with the love of life and 5 Kids. James worked at the Oklahoma Fixture Co., Penloyd, and finally at Bearwood Concepts in Tulsa, OK. He retired in 2017. James painted for over 50 years and was a member of Painters Local Union 1895.
James is survived by: wife of 47 years, Lucy Gross; children, James Gross Jr., Charlene Cosby, Billy Gross, Nadine Gross and partner Stuart, Ferdinand Dan Gross and wife Lindsey, Stephan Gross and wife Shauna, Loretta Caroline Dockrey and husband Christopher, Daniel Alexander Gross, brother, Joel Gross; sisters, Yvonne Arriola, and Evelynia Thompson; 21 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
James is preceded in death by: parents, Cora Lee Penske and Hurley Eugene Gross, sister, Shirley Adair, brother, William Eugene Gross; grandmother, Caroline James Speers.
Visitation for James Wallace Gross Sr. will be from 4:00PM-6:00PM, Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Hominy, Oklahoma. Graveside Services for James will be at 10:30AM, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Good Springs Church UIMC and interment following at Good Springs Cemetery.
