Jean Marie Kemohah Boese passed from this life on May 11, 2022, at the age of 95, in Norman, Oklahoma.
Jean was born on August 13, 1926, in Hominy, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas Kemohah and Nora (Bruno) Kemohah. Jean grew up and attended school in Hominy, Oklahoma later graduating with the Class of 1944. Following high school Jean moved to Tulsa where she began working at Spartan Aeronautics building aircraft. Jean and her twin sister Geraldean moved to the Long Beach area of California. She returned to Oklahoma following the death of her father in 1948. In 1953, Jean graduated from St. Johns Nursing School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1956, Jean gave birth to her son, James Phil Boese. She remained at the hospital as a nurse until the early 1960's. She then moved to Talihina, Oklahoma where she obtained a position with the Old IHS Hospital. In 1963, Jean gave birth to her daughter, Monica Fay Boese. In 1967, Jean then moved to Norman, Oklahoma she attended the University of Oklahoma obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing in 1970 and working at the Norman Municipal Hospital. Jean accepted a position with Indian Health Services in Pawnee, Oklahoma as the Community Health Nurse and was instrumental in starting the Women Infants and Children "WIC" program in Pawnee. In 1974, Jean returned to Hominy residing here for several years before moving to New Orleans, Louisiana. During that time Jean attended Tulane University graduating with a Master of Public Health degree in 1977. Following graduation Jean returned to Hominy continuing to work with IHS. For many years Jean worked as the Supervising Community Health Official retiring in August of 1986.
Jean and her sister, Geraldean did everything together from their youth throughout life, known to people as the Kemohah Twins, they enjoyed bowling, where they played for several leagues and also played bingo and visiting many places. They loved to do road trips, where they ventured to all 48 continental states of America. She was very active with the St. Joseph Catholic Church Auxiliary. For many years she was a season ticket holder for OU football. She and her sister in her later years enjoyed going to lunch at different local eating establishments.
Survivors are her two children Phil and Debbie Boese of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Monica Boese of Norman, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Alysha Boese of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Brandi Chubb of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Christa Fulkerson, Kristen Jameson of Missouri; nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Kemohah, Nora Woodring, twin sister Geraldean Martin, two brothers Thomas Kemohah, Sylvester "Bern" Kemohah.
A memorial service will be held on August 13, 2022 at St Joseph's Catholic Church with burial at a private family cemetery north of Hominy, east of the High School.
