Jeanne Paulette Owens

Jeanne Paulette Owens, 60, lifelong resident of Hominy, OK, passed from this life on October 12, 2022, at her home. Jeanne was born in Hominy, OK on January 2, 1962, to Hershel Thomas Sr (Red) and Patsy Lou (Robinson) Owens. Jeanne was the third child of a sibling group of four, along with her sister, Brenda and her brothers, Hershel, Jr (Rock) and Daniel. Growing up Jeanne loved spending time with her family and friends. Jeanne graduated from Hominy High School in 1980, where she played flute in the band. Jeanne was baptized as a child at The First Baptist Church in Hominy.

Jeanne had two sons, Selby Dustin Ford, and Austin Wyatt Helton whom she loved dearly. Austin and his wife Abby have one son, Wyatt and daughter on the way, Maizy Ann. Jeanne adored her grandson and loved spending time with him. He was a delight to her. She was so excited about the new little granddaughter who will arrive in November. Jeanne was already in love with that little girl.

Jeanne worked as a supervisor for 18 years at the Osage Casino in Tulsa. Jeanne wore many different hats, she loved and perfected floral and interior design. In her younger years you could find her enjoying the outdoors at the lake swimming and might even catch her fishing. Later in life, Jeanne loved to shop and spend time taking her grandson places.

Jeanne was a wonderful cook and did all the holiday cooking – when it came to cooking, she was the best. Her family agrees that nobody can come close to her dressing, cranberry and potato salad. Jeanne was the best caregiver to her father whom she loved and adored. They would take turns cooking supper, and both enjoyed the company of each other, they were in sync.

Jeanne is survived by her son, Austin Helton, and wife Abby of Tulsa, OK; Her father, Hershel Owens, Sr of Hominy; one sister, Brenda Davis, and husband Bobby of Hominy, OK; one brother, Daniel Owens and wife Cristy of Cleveland, OK; aunt and uncle, Susan and Dick Frazier; uncle, Fran Downey and aunt, Cheryl Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanne was preceded in death by her son Selby Ford; mother, Patsy Owens; brother, Hershel Thomas Owens, Jr (Rock); and nephew, Marques Davis. Jeanne will be laid to rest in AJ Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, OK.
