Obituary for Joseph Swindell Buck Joseph Swindell Buck, 75 of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at his home. Joe was born on July 16, 1935 in Washington, North Carolina to Joseph Monroe and Julia Elizabeth (Moore) Buck. Joe entered the Navy on March 9, 1954 and served until December 4, 1961 during which time he fought in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Joe was a truck driver for Feed the Children in Oklahoma City. He drove for almost 10 years. He was a life-time member of the DAV, and a member of the Mannford Assembly of God. Joe received a bachelors degree in engineering from Kansas State University. On September 10, 1992 he married Juanita Pearl Fast in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Juanita passed away on October 19, 2004. Joseph is survived by three sons, Michael Buck of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marvin Buck and his wife Terri of Beggs, Oklahoma, and Joseph Buck of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Four grandchildren, Adam, Apollo, Kevin and Alex. A sister Betty Dixon and her husband William J. Sr. of Washington, North Carolina. A special friend Sherrie Garrison of Sand Springs. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Juanita. Graveside services were held Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the A.J. Powell Cemetery. Mike Rogne officiated the service and the musical selections were One Day At a Time and The Anchor Holds . Casket bearers were Marvin Buck, Joseph Buck, John Michael Rogne, John Rogne, Steve Garrison, and Lee Wayne Dixon. Military services were conducted by the VFW 5th District Rifle Squad. Funeral arrangements were handled by Powell Funeral Home, Hominy, Oklahoma.
