Joyce Marie Welsh, longtime resident of Hominy, OK passed from this life on Saturday evening, February 2, 2019 at the Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was 78 years of age. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Joyce was born June 22, 1940 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Joe and Susie (Renn) Azamber. She was raised and received her education in the Pittsburg, KS area, graduating high school from Southeast HS in Cherokee, KS. Joyce was united in marriage to Tony E. Weber in Pittsburg on December 5, 1959; he passed away on September 8, 1964. Joyce continued living in rural Pittsburg until moving to Girard, KS where she owned and operated a dry-cleaning business. On August 1, 1980, she was married to James Edward (Jim) Welsh. In September of 1984, she and Jim moved to Hominy, OK and purchased an oilfield supply business, becoming known as Sooner Oilfield & Industrial Supply Co. Joyce worked as secretary, bookkeeper and co-owner of the business. She was also active with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Hominy chapter of the ESA; and enjoyed cooking and playing bunco. Jim preceded her in death on February 18, 2016. Also preceding her in death were her parents Joe & Susie Azamber and sister Marilyn Azamber Thomas.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include her children - Randy Weber and wife Judy of Olathe, KS, Eddie Weber and wife Lora of Cherokee, KS, Lisa Ducker and husband Steve of Hominy, and Pam Kidder and husband Michael of Piedmont, OK, and brother-in-law Bob Thomas of Arizona.
In addition, she is survived by five granddaughters; Kati Crawford & husband Drew, Emily Baldwin & husband Scott, Shanna Harris & husband Wyatt, Kayln Parsons & husband Nik, & Khristina Kidder, and six grandsons; Christopher Ducker & wife Jessica, Tony Weber & wife Shelby, Mitchell Weber, Joshua Kidder, Caleb Kidder, & Joe Kidder. Also eight great-grandsons; Kyric & Dredyn Crawford, Everett & Graham Ducker, William & Benjamin Baldwin, and Landry & Lucas Parsons; and great-granddaughters Zoey Crawford, Whitlee Harris, Peyton Weber, Ember Baldwin, & baby Harris due in March, as well as many cousins, nieces, & nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday February 16, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Powell Funeral home in Hominy, OK. She will be laid to rest in Girard, KS June 22, 2019.
