Marlin Floyd Squires Marlin Floyd Squires, 71 years, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 in his home. "Papa Marlin" will be missed. Marlin was born in Emporia, Kansas on March 6, 1943 to Karl Rollin and Margrett Evelyn (Henkle) Squires. Marlin served active duty in the Army as a Specialist 4th Grade, serving as a sharpshooter, friend and hero. He survived Vietnam and also served in Germany, Korea and many other places. He married JoAnn and was divorced in June of 1981. After which, he was reunited with his best friend, Bessie Lee Underwood. They were married in December of 1981. Marlin worked many years in factories as a helper to a welder and a pipefitter and also walking high beams. He became ill with cancer in the mid-1980s caused by asbestos, but was able to overcome it. He enjoyed the rest of his life with family, volunteering at various places. Marlin also enjoyed woodworking, making yard ornaments and bird houses. Marlin is survived by: 5 daughters; Cheryl Thomas, Christy Dean, Fancy Squires, Michelle Squires and Virginia Squires, 3 sons; Jimmy Oleson, Mike Oleson, and Wayne Squires, 5 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Marlin is preceded in death by: his wife, Bessie Lee Squires, his parents and his brother, Milton Ray Squires. Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Hominy. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home in Hominy, Oklahoma.
