Matthew "Leon" Stokes, 38 years, of Cleveland, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, December 07, 2015 at his home in Cleveland.
Leon was born in Collinsville, Oklahoma to John and Ruby (Thornhill) Stokes. Leon worked as a driller in oilfield operations.
Leon is survived by: his parents, John and Ruby; 5 children: Matthew Tanner, Dylan May, Shelby Rae, Mia Jewell and Michael Cade; 3 siblings: John Wesley Stokes III, Tonya Suzanne McConnell, Melinda Mae Lemmons; and his maternal grandmother, Ruthie Montgomery.
Leon is preceded in death by: his paternal grandparents, John Stokes and Eva Mae, his maternal grandfather and his great niece, Natalee.
The funeral service was held at 1 PM, Friday, December 11 at AJ Powell Memorial Cemetery Pavilion, with Waylon Stokes officiating. Pallbearers were: Justin Smith, John Stokes III, Jeromy Smiley, Matthew Stokes, Waylon Stokes and Larry Dunn. Musical selections were: "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman, "Lonesome Whistle" by Hank Williams Sr., "Go Rest High on that Mountain" by Vince Gill, "Lead Me Home" by Jamey Johnson, "Peace in the Valley" by Hank Williams Sr., and "Simple Man" by Lynryd Skynrd.
