Michael James Hensy, 82 years, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Michael was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on February 12, 1937 to Floyd and Mary Alice Hensy. He graduated from Marquette Catholic High in 1955 and continued on to Oklahoma University and the University of Tulsa where he received a Bachelor's and Master's degree.
Michael was married to Jerry Jo Blunk on June 20, 1959; together they made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the owner and operator of the Daylight Donut Shop in Pawhuska, Oklahoma for 44 years before retiring in August 2014. He was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska, Oklahoma; where he was actively involved with many different parts of the church. He was also a proud member of the PHS Booster Club and took part in school activities such as managing the score board during basketball games and the chain gang for football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Michael is survived by: his eight children: Julia Clevenger and her husband, Troy of Tulsa, OK, Lisa Hughes and her husband, Seth of Ochelata, OK, John Hensy and wife, Janice of Round Rock, TX, Philip Hensy of Pawhuska, OK, Ann Magee of Pawhuska, OK, Michelle Chandler and her husband, Kevin of Ponca City, OK, Commander Homer Hensy and his wife, Melissa of Norfolk, VA, and Mary Jo Long and her husband, Eddie of Tulsa, OK; one brother, Philip Hensy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews
Michael is preceded in death by: his parents, Floyd and Mary Alice; his wife, Jerry Jo; one great grandson, Ryker Aiden Magee-Nichols; and his cousin, Father Patrick Hensy.
Visitation is Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Pawhuska, Oklahoma from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
Rosary is Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Pawhuska, Oklahoma at 7:00pm.
Funeral Mass is Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Pawhuska, Oklahoma at 10:00am.
