Milton Dale Echols

After years of declining health and the recent passing of his wife, Milton Dale Echols, 82, gave up the struggle and went to join his wife and the Lord on January 15, 2019. He passed away peacefully at Clarehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Milton Dale Echols was born on April 3, 1936, in Hominy to Thomas and Ruby Echols. He attended school at Mound Valley, Webb City, Shidler, and Lindsay. He graduated from Lindsay High School in 1954, where he was in the Honor Society. He also participated in Boy's Glee Club, speech, and interscholastic meets.

Dale attended East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1958. His first teaching job was in Elgin, Oklahoma where he taught high school math. He then taught at Edmond, where he met his wife, Alberta Green Echols. Eager to try something different, he took a job with General Motors as a time engineer in Leeland, Mississippi. He was then transferred to Mena, Arkansas.

Missing teaching and Oklahoma, he returned with his family to Edmond and then on to Hominy. Dale taught mostly math and mechanical drawing/drafting at Hominy. Besides teaching, Dale and his father Tom owned a small oil production company, Echols Oil Company.

Dale enjoyed math, drafting, designing, going to the lease, singing and playing his guitar. He was a member of the Christian Biblical Church of God.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Green Echols; his parents Thomas and Ruby Echols; his in-laws Erma and Albert Green; one sister Pat Taylor and her husband Tom; his brother-in-law Kenneth Green and his wife Bea; brothers-in-law Paul Mitts and Don Kincaid; sister-in-law Betty Johnson and her husband Don; two nephews Kenneth Jr. and Tim Green; and daughter-in-law Shona Mount Echols.
