Milton K. Holmes Obituary Milton K. Holmes, 89 of Wildhorse, Oklahoma passed away May 12, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born to Tracey Clement and Myrtle (Sheppard) Holmes January 2, 1919 in McComb, Oklahoma. Milton married Phoebe Reese on May 15, 1940 in Wildhorse, Oklahoma. Miltons mom died when he was 2 years old and he was raised by Carrie. He was a long-time Wildhorse resident, moving there when he was 7 years old. He graduated from Wildhorse High School. Milton and Phoebe were ranchers. He was a former member of the Wildhorse School Board, he led singing for 21 years at Oak Hill Baptist Church and 21 years at Prue First Baptist Church, Milton loved music. He also led music for the Adult 3 Department at Hominy, First Baptist Church. He had served as Church Clerk at Oak Hill; Church Treasurer at Prue Baptist Church; Church Training Director at Hominy First Baptist and taught the Mens Bible Class at Prue First Baptist and Hominy First Baptist Church. He is survived by wife Phoebe of the home; one brother Dick Holmes and wife Virginia of Pryor, Oklahoma, two sisters- Virginia Monks of Longview, Texas and Betty Whitehead of Pampa, Texas; several nieces and nephews; great and great, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Georgia Larrimore and step-mom Carrie Elizabeth Holmes. Services were Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Hominy, Oklahoma with Rev. Dick Rountree and Rev. Mark Formby officiating. Speakers were Gene Mills and Tim Weaver. Pianist was Melvina Prather. Vocalist Gerry Lay sang Why Should He Love Me So? , He Died for Me and How Great Thou Art . Casket bearers were Tim Weaver, Jim Reese, Jerry Jones, Rick Holmes, Johnny Parker and Dean Ransbottom. Honorary casket bearers were Keith Mitchell, Darrel Mitchell, Larry Monks, Bob Reese, Wayne Reese and Mike Reese. Burial was in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were made with Powell Funeral Home of Hominy, Oklahoma.
