Norman F. Welker was born on September 24, 1938 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was the son of William F. Bill Welker and Viva Dale Funkhouser Welker. He passed from this life on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma having reached the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 14 days. He was raised in Pawnee, attended Pawnee Public Schools, and graduated with the Class of 1957. He continued his education at Okmulgee Tech earning his degree in heating and refrigeration. He served a stint in the National Guard, and worked in wholesale heat and air for the majority of his career. His biggest passion was competitive smoking events, and was very involved in numerous charity events. He donated many hours of his time and catered many special events. His company, Smokin Okie BBQ, sponsored various youth baseball teams for his grandchildren. He was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He was an avid Oklahoma State University fan and still loved his sister, Shorty, even though she was a big Oklahoma University fan.

Self-Adopted Sister: Sandy Beaudoin
Children: Peggi Harris, Norman Welker II and his wife, Denice, and Ray Welker
Grandchildren: Jennifer, Shannon, Candace, Levi, Racheal, Nicole and Tyler
5 Great Grandchildren
Plus a number of other relatives, and many friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dale Welker, and daughter, Amber Flint.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Pawnee, Oklahoma with Rev. Susan Ross officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
