Patsy Hedges

Patsy Hedges, age 72 passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at her daughters home in Joplin Missouri after a long term fight with cancer. She was born on January 11, 1940 at home in Blackburn Oklahoma to John Dee Kennedy and Mary Leona Arnold Kennedy. She attended school in Skedee and Blackburn, and moved to Kansas with her parents where she met her first husband, Hughie Colmo Curtis, and they were married in 1959. He was a Navy veteran, and they moved to California where she gave birth to Faith Ann Curtis in 1960, and Terry Lee Curtis in 1962. After the death of Terry they moved to Oklahoma where they gave birth to Vickie Lynn Curtis in 1963, and then another daughter, Melissa Rachael in 1967. After they divorced, Patsy married Albert Eugene Gostnell in 1970 in Graham Texas, and they resided in Pawhuska. Albert preceded her in death on December 2, 1971. Soon after Patsy gave birth to Ronda Gostnell in December of 1971. Patsy found her way back to her home in Pawnee County where she met Pat Hedges, and resided in Pawnee as a common law married couple. In 1973 she gave birth to Gary Hedges. She worked for the Pawnee Public Schools for ten years. She loved doing crafts, planting, and loved all holidays. She would decorate everything from her yard to herself for all holidays. Patsy is survived by daughters, Faith Curtis, Vickie Beaman & her husband, Kenneth, Melissa Curtis, Ronda Glasby & her husband, Terry; son, Gary Hedges; .three sisters, Helen Schwartz, Carolyn Hendrix, and Pam Cain, as well as Daryl Kennedy, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John D. Kennedy, and Mary Leona Arnold; brother, Roy D. Kennedy; daughter, Terry Lee Curtis, granddaughter, Latisha Fields; her husbands, Hughie Curtis, Albert E. Gostnell, and Pat Hedges. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the First Assembly of God Church, Pawnee, Oklahoma, with Pastor Bill Platt officiating. Interment will be at Blackburn Cemetery, Blackburn, Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
