Pearl J. “Pete” Vickers, Jr. was born on October 16, 1945 in Jennings, Oklahoma to Pearl J. Vickers and Deloris Catherine Betts. He passed from this life on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his home in rural Pawnee, Oklahoma. He married Carolyn Marie Majors on January 16, 1965 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2006. He has worked for Swan Rubber, served as Pawnee County Commissioner District II, and for the last twenty years he worked for Columbia Metal. He loved telling stories, eagle watching, leading song service at Masham Baptist Church, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Masham Baptist Church, and has served in the National Guard. Pete is survived by: Daughter:Susie McAlister and her husband, Jon, Pawnee, Oklahoma Grandson:Jon McAlister, Jr., Pawnee, Oklahoma Sister:Pearline Anderson, Maramec, Oklahoma 2 Brothers:Joe Vickers, Maramec, Oklahoma Billy Vickers and his wife, Ellen, Yale, Oklahoma Plus many nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family and friends. Besides his wife, Carolyn, he was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Vickers. Services will be held at 10:30 A. M., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Masham Baptist Church, Masham, Oklahoma with Rev. Eddie James officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Home, 16301 S. Western, Oklahoma City, OK, 73170-9349, or Family Care Hospice, 4125 S. Mingo, Tulsa, OK 74146.
