Phillip L. Griesel was born on April 23, 1928 in Pawnee County to William Leroy Griesel and Liane Meeker Griesel. He passed from this life on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home in Maramec, Oklahoma having reached the age of 86 years. At the age of 23 he married Kerry Nancy Tomlin September 30, 1951 in Okemah, Oklahoma. He started his married life in Pawnee ranching, moved to Arkansas City Kansas in 1964 and was employed as a livestock specialist for Devore SPF Hog Farm, and later became a Feed Mill Manager for Two Rivers Coop. He worked as a designer, computer programmer and welder for Waldorf Company and then worked as a jet engine mechanic and stockman until he retired at the age of 72 from G. E. Strotherfield, Kansas. After retiring he resumed full time ranching in 1998 in Pawnee County. Phillip, a man that was loving, caring, patient, articulate, thoughtful, quiet, jovial and frugal. He was a mathematician, a designer, an inventor, a teacher, a planner, an architect, and a man of few chosen words that loved the Lord and lived out 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Phillip is survived by his wife, Kerry Nancy Griesel; children, Claudia L. Martin; Martin S. Griesel and his wife, Kathy; Bruce W. Griesel; Ruth Engle and her husband, Leonard; Samuel L. Griesel and his wife Patricia K.; Aaron B. Griesel; Charles A. Griesel and his wife, Nichole. Grandchildren, Nicholas Griesel and Jessie Marr; Cody Griesel, Joe and Shauna Alley, Ashley and Ivan Figeroa, Martin Jr. and Katie Griesel; Jacob and Bridgette Engle, Jennifer and Toby Clark, Joshua Engle, Zachary Engle, Christopher Griesel, Quinton Griesel, Matthew Griesel, Samantha Griesel, Dustin Griesel, Derek Griesel, Amber Joseph, Roman and Gaby Orr, Cody Nichols and Zoey Griesel. Great Grandchildren, Corbin Alley, Wyatt Clark, Eli Griesel, Genesis Flores, Deuce Flores, Abbey Flores, Brooklynn Flores, Duke Engle, Abel Engle, Chelsea Cogburn, McKenzie Figeroa, Victoria Figeroa, Marcus Joseph, Nikko Orr, Jackson Orr, Victoria Kruger, Michael Kruger, Gabaral Kruger, Ariel Kruger, and Nevaeh Nichols. Brothers and sisters, Marjorie Buchanan; Marianne Denny and her husband, Bill; Peggy Goodrich and her husband, Jim; Effie Medford and her husband, Jim; Nancy Burns; and Bill Griesel and his wife, Judy. One surviving uncle, Melvin “Bob” Griesel and his wife, Betty, and brother-in-law, Carol Dean Tomlin. Also included are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, along with many friends. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Liane Griesel, and twin infant brothers. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Family Worship Center, Pawnee, Oklahoma, with Rev. Ricky Edwards officiating.
