Carrie Mae “Rocky” Tiner Jones was born on October 15, 1924 at #10 Mining Camp (Dow) , Oklahoma to George Washington Tiner and Sadie Poor Tiner. She passed from this life on July 13, 2014 at Owasso, Oklahoma. Having reached the age of 89 years, 8 months and 28 days. Rocky married Arthur M. Jones, Jr on November 22, 1945 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and they moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma, from Arkansas City, Kansas in 1963. She graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1943. Rocky received her diploma and licensure as a Registered Nurse in 1945 from Mercy School of Nursing at Oklahoma City General, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduation, she served in the Army Nurse Corp in San Diego, California mainly in the Burn Intensive Care Unit. While Art was in school at OSU she worked at the Stillwater Hospital. After Art’s graduation she worked as an RN in the clinic at Chilocco Indian School and then Arkansas City General Hospital. In 1963, Art began a job in Pawnee and Rocky began to work at Pawnee Municipal Hospital until retirement in 1984. Rocky had a great love for animals especially horses. The family was a member of the Pony of the Americas Association since 1962. Rocky and Art raised many national champions which gave them great joy. While showing, they traveled from California to New York making friends where ever they went. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings, Joe Cecil Tiner, Eunice George Cornell, Gail Deloris Burnett, and Minnie Lee Tiner. Living Sibling: Mack Tiner of Hartshorne, Oklahoma Surviving Children: Jon Patrick Jones of Sparta Tennessee and his wife Dr. Cathy Phillips, DDS; Jan Jones Nolen, of Sperry Oklahoma and husband Brian Nolen; and Granddaughter: Abby Nicole Nolen of Sperry Oklahoma. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Pawnee, Oklahoma with Rev. Susan Ross officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
