Roman Levi Hutchens was born on February 7, 1977, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Carole Jean Logan Hutchens. Roman played football for Hominy Bucks and then graduated from Hominy High School in 1995 (Go Bucks!). He then attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas, where he continued to play football for the Indians. Roman also attended OSU Institute of Technology where he completed his associate degree.
Roman was employed with Walmart Distribution Center in Ramona, Oklahoma for over eighteen years. Roman enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to concerts and spending time with family and friends. Roman was an avid gun enthusiast. He was a super fan of the Hominy Bucks, OSU Cowboys, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Roman was a member of the Osage and Omaha Tribes. He received his Osage name from his grandfather, Leroy Logan. His Osage name is Hun Kah Wain Tian Kah. Roman was an Osage language teacher and a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. Roman always went the extra mile for the keenest Christmas presents. He was a long time Zon-Zo-Li committee member and in the past, he served as a tail dancer for the district.
Roman is survived by his sister, Alecia Hutchens and her children Easton, Zachary and Kihanna Gilliland. Brother, Timothy and Jessica Goodfox along with their children Anna’layah, and Lenora; sister Alice and Joe Goodfox, along with son Joseph Jr. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Roman is preceded in death by his mom, Carole Logan Hutchens, grandparents Leroy and Mary Grant Logan; aunts Lavina Parker, Jacqueline Logan Belvin and uncle Leroy (Dusty) Logan.
Funeral service is Friday, November 18, 2022, at 9:00am, at The Hominy Indian Village Chapel, followed by burial in the A J Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Services are provided by Powell Funeral Service, Hominy, Oklahoma.
