Sonya Deatherage Edwards

Sonya Deatherage Edwards was born on October 17, 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dave Deatherage and Millie Chapman. She passed from this life on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Hillcrest Heart Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma having reached the age of 41 years and 7 days. She was a member of the Pawnee Tribe, Kingdom Life Church, and Family Worship Center. She attended Pawnee Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1990. She went on to nursing school at Northern Oklahoma College and became a Registered Nurse. She loved working in the nursing field, and at the time of her death she worked as an Emergency Room Nurse at Hillcrest Hospital in Claremore. Shortly after high school, Sonya was married and had three children, Brittney, Jordan, and Blake. On August 2, 2003 she married Alex Edwards and they had two girls, Alexandra and Emily. They made their home in Claremore. She felt the greatest accomplishment in her life was being a Mother. Sonya is survived by her husband, Alex Edwards, her two daughters, Alexandra (9) and Emily (6) of the home in Claremore; daughter, Brittney Weide and granddaughter, Lanie Danker of Tulsa; sons, Jordan and Blake Weide of Glencoe; mother, Millie Chapman of Pawnee; father, Dave Deatherage of Perkins; sister, Tammy Tubbs of Pawnee; twin sister, Susan Deatherage of Perkins; brother, Derek Deatherage of Perkins; plus many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Pawnee with Lloyd Willhite officiating. Interment will be at South Indian Cemetery, Pawnee. Pallbearers will be Arthur Thompson Jr., Gary Stewart, Hawk Murie, Mike Palmatary, Brett Scott and Marlon Houston.
