Teresa Louise Horsechief

Teresa Louise “Lo” Horsechief was born on November 3, 1966 to Lewis Horsechief Sr. and Eleanor Echo Hawk Horsechief in Pawnee, Oklahoma, she passed from this life on Monday, April 8, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma having reached the age of 46 years, 5 months, and 5 days. She attended Pawnee Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1985. She furthered her education at Southwestern Indian Poly Technical Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she received her Associates Degree in Computer Science. After graduating in 1988 she moved to Billings Montana and began her working career with the Indian Health Services, and after five years of employment she transferred to the Bureau of Indian Affairs where she completed ten faithful years of service. She had to take an early retirement due to her health. Teresa has always enjoyed dancing and going to PowWows, watching rodeos, playing with her grandchildren and visiting with family. She was a good cook and specialized in making an excellent meal out of nothing. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Eleanor Horsechief, maternal grandmother, Manuella Goodchief Echohawk; sister, Jennifer Horsechief Knott; niece, Jena Mandi Knott; brother-in-law, Darrel Rice Sr.; and aunt, Marcella Lyons. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building, .Pawnee, Oklahoma, with Pastor Lewis Bernard officiating. Interment will be at North Indian Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma. Dinner will be served at the Pawnee Nation Roam Chief Building following the interment.
