Violet Mary Bottger

Violet Mary Bottger, 70, passed from this life December 2, 2022, at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Vie Bottger was born in Camden, New Jersey on July 13, 1952, to Larry and Mary Edith Nevius. She was the oldest of a sibling group of four. Vie has a brother Larry and two sisters, Jane and Lori. Vie went to high school in Blackwood, NJ.

At fifteen years old, Vie went roller skating, where she met Charley Bottger. He was a military man and couldn’t get past Vie’s long flowing beautiful hair. She was skating backwards when Charley saw her and at that moment, he knew he needed to meet her. They were married on July 23, 1969, just after Vie turned sixteen. Charley says he robbed the cradle. Charley and Vie have three children: two boys and one girl. Vie and Charley relocated to Oklahoma where Charley is from. They later moved to the Ponca City area. They have lived in the area ever since.

Vie completed her high school studies and went to work. She worked in a factory for seventeen years making the grills for home AC/Heat units. She made many wonderful friends in that place. From there Vie went into Real Estate, where she spent the last twenty-four years. She became a broker in the industry where she received many awards.

Vie lived for her family. They were the most important part of her life. Christmas was her favorite time of year when the family came together. Vie would decorate the house and where she couldn’t reach, she would recruit one of the family to help her. Her real goal was for each child to build a house on the property where everyone was together all the time. She loved to travel with family. They would go camping (RV) and hang out at the lake. She also loved riding horses.

Vie was a fighter. She was a three-time survivor of cancer. At one point they said she had fifteen percent chance of living, but she overcame it. No matter what she faced, she gave a hundred and ten percent.

Vie is survived by her husband, Charles Bottger; her son, Eddie (Kayti Moxley) Bottger and daughter Paula (Joe) Maker; thirteen grandchildren – Jessica Bottger, Dalton (Meagan), Chelsea (Sam), Justin, Levi Maker, Dylan (Cheyenne), Katie, Kaleb, Brayden Bottger, Landon, Trevor, Conner, Evan. Six Great Grandkids; RJ, Sawyer, Addi, Destine, Lileigh, Brooklyn, and Landon. Her brother; Larry (Terri) Nevius, two sisters; Jane (Steve) DePrince, Lori (Bobby) Davis along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; Larry and Mary, her oldest son; Charles “Lee” Bottger.

Vie’s funeral will be at 10:00am, Friday, December 9, 2022, at First Christian Church in Hominy, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Powell Funeral Service in Hominy from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Powell Funeral Service are handling all the arrangements.
