Willa Mae Van Dusen Davis was born April 2, 1927, in Osage County to James and Leona
Shephard and passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro,
Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 21 days.
Willa Mae was raised in Osage County and graduated from Wynona High School. On February 1,
1948, she married Virgil Van Dusen and they made their home in Hominy. After Virgil’s death in
1991 she married Louis Davis in 1994. She moved to the Baptist Village in Oklahoma City in
2014 and then to Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro in 2019.
Willa Mae worked in sales in Hominy at Bayouth’s, Rexall Drug Store, and J.C. Penney. She also
worked at the Hominy Nursing Home and for the Osage County Election Board for many years.
She loved her church, working with children and serving as pre-school director, junior teacher,
Sunbeam leader, and church nursery worker. Willa Mae enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and
working in her yard. What she treasured most was being a wife, mother, and homemaker.
Willa Mae is survived by one son, Virgil Van Dusen, Jr., and wife Susan of Weatherford,
Oklahoma; one sister, Jimmie Lee Cannon, of Hominy; two grandchildren, David Van Dusen and
wife Samantha of Harrogate, England and Abby Van Dusen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one great
granddaughter, Cora Van Dusen and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents, both husbands, and one sister, Berneice Franklin.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made online to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
Services for Willa Mae will be at 11:00 a.m Wednesday, October 28 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel.
